Time Capsule translates 37 years of climate data into a sonic performance and workshop, using temperature and net radiation measurements recorded at Cabauw, a 213-meter measuring mast in the Netherlands. From 1987 to 2023, this data has been meticulously collected to inform climate models and scientific reports, but here it is reimagined as a soundscape that allows us to feel the subtle yet powerful shifts in our environment.

Performed at La Trappe Festival, September 2024
Over the course of ten minutes, the audience is guided through the past few decades of climate change. Each long note represents a single year, pitched to reflect actual temperature and net radiation changes. As the sound evolves, the audience is invited to experience the weight of the data—a reminder of the long-term trajectory of climate change.
Time Capsule invites reflection on how we perceive climate change over time, offering a tangible, auditory representation of the data we often encounter in abstract reports, and encouraging a more intimate, emotional connection to the issue.
